MSP for Stirling Evelyn Tweed visits Camphill Blair Drummond and welcomes return of much-loved Christmas event.
MSP for Stirling Evelyn Tweed has visited Camphill Blair Drummond and enjoyed a tour of the centre as they prepare for their Christmas event.
Camphill Blair Drummond is a rural community which offers homes, activities and opportunities to adults with learning disabilities and other special needs. Over 200 people live and work in this community as day students, employees and volunteers.
Jason Glass, Director of Operations at Camphill Blair Drummond said:
‘We were delighted to welcome our local MSP Evelyn Tweed, on her first visit since being elected. She experienced the vibrancy of life, activities and work in our community.
We always value our visitors and Evelyn happily engaged with residents, employees and our International Volunteers as we enjoyed a walk around our estate and homes.
Conversations explored many aspects of our shared community life and our approach to supporting every person to realise their fullest potential.
Our International Volunteers provided an insight into their ‘gap year’ experience, with Evelyn keen to listen and understand the significant contribution they make to life in our community during their year with us.
Visiting residents in their day activities and homes, offered an insight into the richness and quality of their environment, home and the life enjoyed by us all.
We look forward to welcoming Evelyn to our Advent Sale on the 3 December (13.00 – 16.00), which is open to all.”
Reflecting on the visit, MSP for Stirling Evelyn Tweed said:
“I enjoyed meeting everyone at Camphill Blair Drummond, from residents to employees, and International Volunteers.
‘The estate is beautiful and has a real buzz of community. It’s clear that residents and volunteers gain a lot from their time there and they were keen to share their insight and tell me about their experiences.
‘Camphill Blair Drummond’s Advent Sale is much anticipated by local people each year and has been greatly missed for the last few years when cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, so I’m sure everyone will join me in welcoming back this event.”
