Local MSP Evelyn Tweed has backed a new national campaign from the Scottish Government and Scottish Drugs Forum, to help raise public awareness of the signs of a drug overdose and the life-saving medicine naloxone.
On International Overdose Awareness Day, TV and radio adverts and billboards at transport hubs and shopping centres have encouraged the public to go to www.StopTheDeaths.com to find out more – information that could save a life.

‘Like all across Scotland, Stirling has tragically lost community members to drugs. On International Overdose Awareness Day, it’s vitally important we remember people, and take concrete steps to prevent further death and suffering. This joint campaign from the Scottish Government and Scottish Drug Forum will help raise public awareness of the signs of overdose, as well as provide information about the potentially life-saving medication naloxone.
‘The Scottish Government has committed £250 million in funding over this term of Parliament to help tackle the drug deaths crisis. I welcome close collaboration between the public and third sectors here in Stirling to support those who remain vulnerable, and see they get the help they deserve.’
