Views Wanted on Stirling Resilience Planning
Local Stirling MSP Evelyn Tweed is seeking households and community feedback on Stirling’s response to Storm Arwen, and resilience planning more generally as the winter period approaches.
The short survey can be filled in online, or paper copies can be requested by emailing evelyn.tweed.msp@parliament.scot.
A summary of the survey results will be shared with Deputy First Minister John Swinney at the Scottish Government, who is responsible for strategic resilience and emergency planning. Ms Tweed also plans to work closely with Stirling Council and other agencies responsible for disaster response, to improve resilience planning in Stirling’s communities.

‘I was extremely heartened to see so many volunteers and community members step up and look after their neighbours during the recent Storm Arwen disruption. There was a widespread feeling that more can be done to strengthen the disaster preparedness of Stirling’s communities, as extreme weather becomes increasingly likely over the winter months and as a consequence of climate change. Many constituents have expressed an interest in learning more about current resilience planning in Stirling, and I’m very happy to facilitate this fact-finding exercise.
‘Stirling Council and other public sector partners take resilience planning very seriously, but working together with communities is the best way to ensure people are looked after when emergencies arise.
‘Any feedback will be extremely welcome, and can help tailor disaster responses to suit the local needs and circumstances of communities across Stirling – especially in our rural towns and villages.’
